Whether we like it or not the TV is a big focal point in the living room. Unfortunately, it is also a dust magnet and shows every streak and fingerprint.
To keep the screen from ruining the aesthetic of your room here is a handy guide to keeping it streak-free and sparkling.
First up – here are the top dos and don’ts for cleaning your TV screen.
Dos
- Before cleaning, unplug the power plug from the socket.
- If you’re using a ready-coated cloth or cleaning cloth, check the packaging to see if you can use it for cleaning the TV.
- Use a microfiber cloth for the screen, and a dry soft cloth for the exterior.
- When using a mild detergent, dilute it by less than 1%.
Don’ts
- Avoid touching the screen as much as possible with your hands.
- Don’t spray detergent directly onto the TV. The drips might get into the lower part of the screen and the TV may malfunction.
- Don’t use aggressive cleaners or solvents such as benzene, thinner, etc. They can strip the finish on the TV.
- Keep contact with rubber or vinyl materials to the bare minimum, they can cause the TV may deteriorate or its paint may peel off.
How to clean your TV
- Gently wipe off the dirt on the exterior with a dry, soft cloth, a glasses (spectacles) cleaner is a good option.
- Next, gently wipe the screen with a microfiber cloth. Try your best not to touch the screen surface with your hands.
- For any stubborn marks or oil markers (from skin contact) soak a cloth in a mild detergent diluted (by less than 1%) with water. Squeeze it tightly, then wipe the mark off.Immediately afterwards, gently wipe the screen with a microfiber cloth.Don’t use detergent with abrasives.
- Caution- The liquid crystal in your TV screen may collapse if you apply pressure when you wipe the LCD and it may look like a speck of dirt. Use minimal pressure!
- Wipe the printed surface such as CH +, CH –, or HDMI 1 of the TV carefully with a soft dry cloth. The printed surface may receive damage if scratched by your nails.
To clean a narrow space like between the television and stand (tabletop stand) we recommend using a small duster with a handle.
Dust may stick near the vent of the TV (at the back). Dust in this area may cause failure and overheating so remove it with a vacuum cleaner once a month.
And there you have it – relax and enjoy!
